I'm Kawa. This is a repository of thoughts I think others may find interesting and/or helpful. It is more personal than my true 'professional online presence' (which goes by my wallet name), and yet less personal than a true personal diary (which is also here on Dreamwidth, elsewhere).
I live in New York City, and I grew up here, but I have not always lived here. I'm trying to take advantage of the wonderful things this city has to offer, and document some of those things here.
I like video games in a genre known as "roguelikes", and am generally fascinated with video games as an art form and a community building mechanism. (Yes, I'm that Kawa, but not the other one.) I'm similarly interested in board games and tabletop roleplay, and take part in a regular story-based/indie RPG night. I'm slowly forming opinions about other art and cultural forms, including music, visual art, and other media. Right now the CRPG Disco Elysium is a major fandom of mine, but I'll put all that at
disco_elysium.
I like the tangibility of a number of crafts: cooking, Gunpla, makeup, and origami. I'm allergic to eggs and poultry, so you won't see those ingredients in use. Similarly, I have a limited budget for my other hobbies, so you'll see me working within the constraints of those in hopefully interesting ways. At another place on Dreamwidth is my recipe repository for notes on specific items, but I might do some larger observations here, or maybe restaurant reviews, who knows.
I pay attention to design and efficiency, inspired by study in ergonomics, human-focused design, and the concept of the "lifehack"; note that anything here on "personal ergonomics" is what works for me and not necessarily anyone else!
I identify as pansexual, polyamorous, neurodivergent, and non-binary femme, and that influences my understanding of the world. You won't see much personal gossip here, but I do talk about how I manage those identities logistically and emotionally.
